The Law of attraction is one of the biggest mysteries of life to have ever existed. There are very few people who actually know the impact of this law in their lives. Whether we are aware of it or not, every second of our lives we are acting as human magnets in the universe, sending in our thoughts and emotions to attract what we want in our lives, as well as attracting what we do NOT want.
It is unfortunate that most of us are blinded to the potential that exists within us. Consequently, it is very easy to leave your thoughts and emotions unchecked. Because of this, we send out wrong signals and attract more unwanted events in our lives.
With that said, discovering the law of attraction is, in itself, a great cause for celebration! Once the power of attraction is learned, it will no longer be a secret, as it is to most of the people out there. Plus, when you learn how to practice this power in real-time, we can safely argue that the majority of your future is for you to create!
Although there are a lot of debates as to where the origin of this law is rooted, I believe that the first person who ever talked about it explicitly was Buddha. One of his most popular lessons is:
"What you have become is what you have thought"
This is a belief that is deeply intrinsic in the Law of Attraction. When this belief slowly spread to the Western World, it changed its face and became to be known as “Karma”, which I am sure you're well aware of. It is a common understanding that what you give out to the world, is what you may receive in your own life.
Yes, this concept is somewhat related to the law of attraction, but there is much more to it than this idea only. You will learn why the law works, how it works, and how you can practice it to attract what you want in life.
Why Does The Law Work?
A lot of people question how does this law work. As far as my research and personal experiences go, I believe there are two explanations for it:
The Spiritual Explanation
A great number of people believe that the Law of Attraction works by aligning God or the Universe with our desires. We are all made of energy, and our energy operates at different frequencies. By thinking positively and practicing gratitude, we can change our frequency of energy.
Rather than focusing on our frustrations, we can change the frequency of our energy by using optimistic, grateful thoughts and feelings and by focusing on our dreams. That is how the law of attraction brings positive things and events into our lives.
What we attract depends on where and how we focus our attention on. But we MUST believe that it’s already ours, or soon will be. If we are not entirely certain of the fact that what we want is within our reach, then there is no way that we can align our energy with that of the universe.
The Scientific Explanation
If you’re a science geek who does not believe in anything without scientific proof, then there is another explanation which exists for your interests. By imagining with certitude that it is possible to attain a new reality, we tend to notice more opportunities, take more risks and open ourselves up to new possibilities.
Conversely, we tend to let opportunities pass by unnoticed when we don’t believe that something is in the realm of possibilities for us. We behave in ways that could endanger our chances at attaining what we want when we believe we don’t deserve good things. By changing the way we think and feel about life, we reverse the negative patterns in our actions and create more positive and healthy ones.
In simple words, modern psychology tells us that we act the way we think.
How Does The Law Work?
You can consciously and intentionally create a better life once you understand how the law works. You can choose to think differently. You can choose to focus and think about the things you want more of in your life. You can choose to experience more of the things that make you feel good. By managing your thoughts and feelings, you can choose to deliberately participate in the creation of your future.
Using the Law of Attraction can be a tricky process, but I have divided it in three steps: ask, believe and receive. Let’s go into detail on each aspect.
1. Ask the universe for what you want, not for what you don’t want.
Every day you send requests to the universe in the form of thoughts. What you think about, what you talk about, what you read about and give attention to - all send signals to the universe of what you want in life. A very important point to note is that law works in a way where you will attract what you give your energy, attention, and focus to - whether it’s wanted or unwanted.
Unfortunately, what we often give our attention to is random and not deliberate, we simply respond to situations. That is why we end up giving wrong signals to the universe. So, in order to be more intentional towards the thoughts that you give to the universe, first you need to know what you want; you must become more deliberate about what you think and feel.
Once you decide what you want, then you need to practice feeling those emotions you’ll experience when you have it. The more you practice feeling the way you’d feel once you get what you WANT (not what you DON’T want), the easier you will manifest your goals. For example, you might want to change your career, move to a different location, start your own music band, or recover from an illness. You need to question yourself:
How would I feel once I’ve “arrived” at my goal?
With whom would I be spending time with?
What would I be doing throughout the day?
2. Believe that you’ll get what you want, then take action.
What does it really mean to believe you’ll get what you want? It means maintaining a positive attitude, going about your day with certitude — knowing that you’ve put your future in the hands of the power of the universe. It’s deciding with absolute certainty that what you want will definitely happen. This is not always easy.
A lot of people do not have a strong self-esteem; they do not tend to believe in themselves. If this sounds like you, then you must first believe that you are deserving, capable enough, and smart enough to receive what you want and what matters to you.
The second part of the equation is to take action. Now you firmly believe that you will get what you want, hence you would want to align your actions parallel to your goal. When you take actions which give you your desired results, even in the short term, strengthens your belief that what you want is within reach.
3. Receive what you want by becoming a vibrational match for it.
What does becoming a vibrational match mean? It means to focus on creating positive emotions of joy, love, gratitude, and appreciation throughout your day. As mentioned earlier, you may want to actually live as if you have already achieved what you wanted. How do you create these emotions? By thinking. Your thoughts are creating different emotions all the time.
You can consciously choose to create positive emotions by the thoughts that you think. In fact, it is very important to catch yourself when your emotions become negative. That is because negative emotions will attract negative events, and that is something that you’d never want, would you?
As with everything, this will take time and practice. Rest assured, the more you consciously follow the steps I provided above, the easier it will get to actualize your goals and dreams in your life.
